Axelrod /Obama Attacked Ferraro to Mute Wright Story

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Boy,after today's Obama speech, doesn't this REALLY make sense?

"I noticed over the last several weeks that the forces of division have started to raise their ugly heads again. And I'm not here to cast blame or point fingers because everybody, you know, senses that there's been this shift"
Obama 3/15/08

David Axelrod of the Barack Hussein Obama campaign may have decided in a Karl Rove style move to attack someone in the Clinton campaign for racism because he had advanced warning that the ABC News piece on Wright was coming. This may be because ABC had asked the Obama campaign about it already.

David Axelrod of the Obama campaign likely knew this was coming. The Church probably passed the word that ABC was asking questions.

So one week at least before the Ferraro comment, the Obama campaign knew that ABC was going to do a major hostile hit piece on the Obama Wright relationship. Its possible that this happened much earlier and Obama's comments about Wright earlier were already damage control for that piece. But they needed to go on offense to take control of the news coverage of race in the campaign.

They needed to make the controversy about the Clinton campaign and race, not the Obama campaign and race. So they needed to attack someone in the Clinton campaign first for racism. It needed to be someone big enough that it would get wall to wall media coverage. Ferraro was a previous vice presidential candidate. That made her perfect. If Obama attacked her personally, it would be guaranteed to take over as the top story. Obama in fact did attack her personally.

The following page shows the chronology.

That was pretty obvious (2.00 / 0)

Many people suspected it here and on other blogs.

But I do bet you that the Obama campaign never thought this story would be carrying over into a 2nd week...

You sir, or madam, have neither the values nor the intellect to claim your username.

Shame.

Usually Gabrielle, Gunslinger is noted for aiming his sights as his feet or his rear. The bullets usually end up there.

Gunslinger, go take your guns and point them elsewhere...perhaps at your normal shooting range (a/k/a the Big Orange). Around here, when it comes to trollish behavior, we let you rant (unlike that other place), but we also let you know just how off-base you are...and like you are right now.

It appears you're very much a part of that "group" on assignment to disrupt matters around here; and, you're not very good at it. Might I suggest you try harder, so you will then be banned!

No, she just happened to be the one in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Any distortable quote was usable. They may have over-reached trying to destroy a former VP-candidate though.

Re: Conspiracy central (none / 0)

Come on. She really did say some pretty dumb things and she even made it worse in her response. Look up how Powers reacted on her gaffe and see how that played out. By simply admitting that she said something stupid she could have ended it, before it started. How's that.

Ferraro Old News. Wright is Fatal to Obama (2.00 / 1)

But remember, Ferraro is basically old news and viewers are more interested in Wright than Ferraro.  They know the clear difference between the two.  Wright is everything Obama is about, admittedly so by Obama himself.  Ferraro is just a commentator for Hillary.  No strong connection.

This is why I believe Obama is now unelectable.  He will never survive the GE.  Let's give Hillary the money to really win big in PA.  I just contributed $25.

Obama BAITED Ferraro (2.00 / 2)

By being black! He made her say that rationally insensitive comment! She's a victim!

Re: Obama BAITED Ferraro (none / 0)

I know...isn't this just the silliest thing ever?

How can you MAKE someone say something like she said?

Every time someone in the Clinton campaign says something racially insensitive, it's because the Obama camp somehow baited them?

If that's true, then they must suffer from some horrible judgment over there, because they've fallen into the trap quite a few times.

Then again...

Re: Axelrod /Obama Attacked Ferraro to Mute Wright (2.00 / 1)

I would be shocked to find out that someone is resorting to politics, of all things, in the middle of this campaign.

This is exactly where Obama wanted to be (2.00 / 0)

Safely blanketed in a racial battle where he can compete on a higher level than Hillary.  That's why he continued to use race and charge anyone he could with race baiting, even black leaders of the civil rights movement.

The idea of equilibrating Geraldine Ferraro's comments with those hateful words of Jeremiah Wright shows what Obama is, a liar and a slug.  You can see Hillary trying to move the issue away from race but Obama keeps bringing it back.

What a load of crap (none / 0)

Did you even read the part you quoted. "may" "probably" A ton of qualifiers, followed by attacks on Obama.

More innuendo-based false attacks. Have any evidence whatsoever that Obama pushed the Ferraro story? Weren't her comments in a really small newspaper, then nothing for 2 weeks, then a Kos diarist covered it?  - that's how I remember it, I COULD BE WRONG.  Ferraro then went on a ton of shows, repeated her retarded statements, while complaining she was quoted out of context. Clinton rightly separated herself, Ferraro quit so she'd stop hurting Clinton, end of story.

Where was Obama in all of this? Nowhere. He sayed above it all. Even critized those who attacked Ferraro in his speech today.

Safely blanketed?  Are you out of your mind?  Obama is 'safely blanketed' in a racial battle?

Re: Axelrod /Obama Attacked Ferraro to Mute Wright (none / 0)

Haha, yeah.  Clearly this is EXACTLY the place Obama wants to be!

has any one bothered to read the entirety of Ferraro's comments? She is a lot more nuananced than Obamabots are claiming!

Rudy-
You and I seem to be alone in a desire for nuance.
It doesn't seem anyone is reading the entirety of anyone's anything.I am a 52 year old black woman (who supports BHO) looking for intellectually rigorous discussion. I want to consider about why I believe what I believe. I invite being challenged I will either hone my arguement or change my mind.

I definitely think.. (none / 0)

he went to the paper in Chicago about the Rezko story on Friday because he knew those revelations would be drowned out by the Rev. Wright story.

Re: Axelrod /Obama Attacked Ferraro to Mute Wright (none / 0)

The Obama campaign has been derailed by Rev. Wright. Hey, Ax, the wreckage is spectacular. No amount of deflecting and playing the blame Hillary game is going to work this time.
